Note: The Waterford Blaa is unique to Waterford, Ireland. So important is this bread that it was awarded the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status in 2013 – meaning that, like Champagne or Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, the origins and local production of the blaa are so important, it can’t be called blaa unless it’s made in Waterford. Did you know that Blaas are Vegan friendly too.

We pride ourselves on trying to use local and artisan producers, our Blaa’s come from Hickey’s Bakery on Barrack Street, selection of meats from Philp Egan and Brady Meats, Butter from Irish Gourmet Butter. So, we source all our ingredients from within a 30 mile radius of Waterford City.

Hickey’s Bakery handmade soft or crusty Blaa with Irish Gourmet Butter (Gold medal winner in Blas na Heireann)
