National Takeaway Awards 2019 Winners

Just Eat hosted the sixth annual Just Eat National Takeaway Awards in Dublin this evening, where Saba To Go, Rathmines were crowned Ireland’s favourite takeaway. Beating off stiff competition Camile Thai, Phibsboro was the winner of this year’s inaugural Best Takeaway Sustainability Award, while Camile Thai, Greystones reigned supreme in the all-new Best Takeaway Vegan category.


Hosted in Dublin’s Number Twenty Two and presented by popular presenter and famed foodie Cassie Stokes, The National Takeaway Awards were developed by Just Eat to celebrate the nation’s favourite local takeaways; recognising the ongoing efforts of restaurants in the sector delivering great tasting, quality cuisine. 


Unlike other industry awards, the Just Eat National Takeaway Award nominees and ultimate winners are decided by public vote with over 17.3k votes registered over the past number weeks. Shortlisted representatives from all-over Ireland joined Just Eat on the night to celebrate excellence in what has become one of the most anticipated events in the industry calendar. 


25 awards were up for grabs on the night including Best Takeaway Healthy, Best Takeaway Pizza and the all-new Best Takeaway Breakfast award, won by Burrito Loco, Letterkenny; Base Wood Fired Pizza, Terenure and McDonald’s, Swords respectively.


Introduced this year to acknowledge those within the industry working to make their business model more sustainable, the inaugural Just Eat Best Takeaway Sustainability category was won by Camile Thai, Phhisbsboro, with Burrito Loco, Letterkenny; Chopped; San Sab, Drumcondra and Sprout also shortlisted and recognised within the category.   


Once again the diversity of choice and range of flavours now available to customers saw winners emerge from the four proud provinces of Ireland, with Shapla Indian, Carlow winning Best Takeaway Leinster; Xian Street Food, Galway taking the top spot in the West as Best Takeaway Connaught; Camile Thai, Limerick voted Best Takeaway Munster and Bamboo Court, Letterkenny crowned Best Takeaway Ulster.
