Lighter Lunches: Light Bites To Turn Any Day Around

Lunchtime is the best time! We don’t know about you but we love a lunchtime pick-me-up. A midday treat is always a good idea to us when we’re trying to balance all the things that work is throwing at us. Whether you’re a salad saviour or a burrito babe we have put together some of our favourite lunchtime treats for every day of the week. So you’re sorted Monday through Friday, now who says we don’t take care of you.

If you can’t wait to read our recommendations, just get to ordering lunch now on Just Eat and get it delivered to your office, oh and don’t forget to add in your work colleagues, you office hero you!

Monday

Let’s start the week on a healthy and happy note with one of our salad options on Just Eat. Some of our favourite ones are the Greek Salad form Jack Jordans in Galway – the crumbly feta cheese is a perfect pairing with the crisp mixed leaves, peppers, red onion olives, and sun-dried tomatoes. Sounds like a dream to us!

If you’re not feeling too Greecian then maybe try the veggie-friendly Lebanese Falafel salad from Chopped in Dublin, it’s a pretty perfect combo of mixed greens, grains, lentils, red onion, tomato, mixed peppers, pine nuts and mint with of course the falafel.

If that doesn’t get rid of your Monday blues, then we don’t know what will!

Tuesday

We’re always looking for something new to try on our lunch breaks, but sometimes it’s just wise to stick to a truly tried and tested classic. The wrap is always a safe and tasty bet and with the Roasted Flap Cap Mushroom and Grilled Halloumi Wrap from Rooster Pil Pil in Cork we know we’re in safe hands.

If you’re feeling a little more adventurous in the world of wrap – then maybe the Mexican Beef Wrap from Cafe Bliss in Dublin is more your calling. The perfect fusion of Irish beef, chilies, kidney beans, onions, cheese and creme fresh all perfectly bundled in a tortilla wrap.

Wednesday

You say burrito! We all say burritos! The hump day slump is real – we can attest to it. So with that, we turn to burritos goodness to brighten up any mid-week blues – one of our top picks is the Chilli Con Carne Burrito from El Mexicano in Monaghan, a perfect blend of Mexican herbs and spices to lift any lunchtime bite.

If you’re looking for burritos done right, Zambrero is a good and healthy shout; a 12″ tortilla jammed full of pinto beans, rice, choice of chicken, beef, pork, all topped off with lettuce, salsa, sour cream, jalapenos and a fresh squeeze of lime. If you don’t feel like getting your hands dirty, you can always opt for a bowl or even a power bowl if you want to double up on portions.

Thursday

Sushi is always an underrated lunch choice but we think it’s definitely deserving of more attention. A refreshing change up of the usual lunch options; we could never resist a California Roll from the Hand Roll selection at Maki Sushi in Cork – this roll is full of flavour with crab, mayo, cucumber, avocado and sesame seeds.

Or if you’re looking for little more variety in your lunchtime sushi, you could always order from KuRaudo in Dublin and get one of their Sushi Combo’s, a highlight is the Kiri Sushi Combination that includes nigiri and norimaki choices of sushi. If you have no idea what either of those things means then you might find our sushi guide useful – you can have a read of that here.

Friday

It’s pretty much the weekend at this point so we say it’s the perfect time to have a treat and rope all of your colleagues into celebrating the weekend with you. Which is why pizza is a perfect choice. Share a few slices with your desk neighbors because no doubt they had a busy week too! The Capricciosa Pizza from Ezios Takeaway in Meath is always a good choice, cheese, tomato, ham, pepperoni, mushrooms, and onions. We see no wrong here!

If you’re feeling like you just want to enjoy that pizza lunch life by yourself then we say more power to you – the Prosciutto Cotto Calzone from Quando Woodfired Pizza in Dublin has got you covered. Cut in half filled with, fresh mozzarella, Italian ham, baby spinach and ricotta cheese, sign us up!

Ok, we officially have to order lunch today, and since it’s Friday – guess it’s gonna be pizza. You should probably order yours too on Just Eat.
