She reviews Wagamama.

Wagamama is one of my favourite restaurants in Cork. It serves tasty yet affordable Japanese-inspired dishes. Usually I order one of the more popular items on the menu, Chicken Katsu Curry. However since this is probably their best known dish and one that the majority of people would be familiar with I decided for the purposes of this review I’d try something completely different and something that I have never tasted before.

I went on to Just-Eat.ie oneSunday afternoon and leisurely scrolled through my options. I decided to use my20 voucher to treat myself and my boyfriend to a nice, no-hassle meal. After many deliberations (and at the insistence of my rumbling stomach) I chose the Chicken Tama Rice. Wagamama describe this meal as: “Grilled chicken breast stir-fried with courgettes, mushrooms, red and spring onions in an oyster, ginger, garlic and wine sauce. Served on Japanese style rice.” This is unlike anything I’ve had in Wagamama before as I usually go for their curry dishes. My boyfriend, ever the experimental type, stuck with his familiar Chicken Katsu Curry. With great excitement I began the process of ordering our dinner through Just-Eat.ie.

The ordering process is very straightforward and within a few short minutes it was complete. The only slight issue I could identify with ordering food from Wagamama was that there is no option for home delivery. If you live far away or are unable to leave home for whatever reason then this isn’t the takeaway for you. Later collection times can be easily arranged online however so if it would take you a long time to get to Wagamama then you can choose to give yourself an extra half hour or more to collect the food.

Our food was to be ready in 20 minutes, which gave us enough time to drive to town, find parking, and go inside. It was the first time I had ordered food for collection from Wagamama but there was no confusion on our part upon arrival. The staff was courteous and friendly and we felt at ease. We arrived at the restaurant with five minutes to spare and to our delight we found that our order was immediately ready for collection.

Five minutes later at home we sat down to enjoy our meal. The food was served in hard plastic containers which (thankfully) didn’t leak on the journey home. Although it was takeaway the presentation of both our meals was flawless. The food in both was prepared as if on a restaurant plate.  As we started eating I noticed that my food wasn’t very hot (but it definitely wasn’t cold either), obviously due to the length of the journey home. I would recommend putting the food into a microwave for a few seconds just to have it at the right heat.

As soon as I started eating my Chicken Tama Rice I was hooked! The oyster sauce was one of the nicest things I’ve ever tasted and the combination of the sauce with the chicken, rice and vegetables was perfect. It has become my new favourite dish in Wagamama (although I’m still partial to an occasional Katsu Curry!). My boyfriend’s food was, as ever, completely satisfying and tasty.

My overall experience of Just-Eat.ie and Wagamama was brilliant. Just-Eat.ie is a convenient and easy-to-follow website and I will definitely use it many times in the future.

You can order from Wagamama tonight, or indeed over 1,250 other restaurants and takeaways.  Feeling peckish? Click here!
