A Match Made in Heaven: Food Pairings

Being single is great and all but some things just work better in pairs, like peanut butter and chocolate, pasta and cheese, Oprah and Gayle. You know? With that in mind, we’ve been chatting around the office about some of our preferred food pairings this week and have come up with some of our favourites and of course because we’re so generous we’ve decided to share them with you.

So have a read of our top food pairing and see if any of them take your fancy – they might even prove as some inspiration for this weekends takeaway on Just Eat.

Chips and Guac

We could have done a more generic ‘chips and dip’ situation but who are we kidding here, guac is the holy grail of dips. It’s a pretty simple combination but a winning one all the same and it’s perfect for sharing with friends or just keeping it all to yourself (this is a judgment-free zone!). You can check out the Mexican Nachos from Peperina Garden Bistro in Dublin for this perfect pairing.

Sushi and Miso Soup

We’ve previously posted about the basics of sushi if you’re not familiar and since then we have been on a sushi buzz. Sushi is a perfect sharing food, so invite all your friends over impress them with your knowledge as you’ve obviously read our blog post and as a top tip from us also order everyone a bowl of miso soup. It’s a traditional Japanese soup consisting of a stock called “dashi” into which softened miso paste is mixed, optional additions like tofu and cabbage are common but completely at your discretion. It’s the perfect pairing to sushi with its warm tasty goodness. Just trust us. Michie Sushi in Dun Laoghaire has a great selection of Japanese dishes and healthy options.

Burger and Fries

The classic combo. Since the dawn of time. The OG of combo meals. Can you feel the nostalgia? You really can’t go wrong with the burger and fries pairing, at its very foundation its meat and potatoes, so our Irish selves are happy. We do love a twist on a classic though so whether you’re a beef or chicken burger kind of guy/gal or maybe even like a cheeky garlic chip – we salute you! For more creative interpretations of this classic pairing why not order from Pitt Bros BBQ South who have a range of bun meals and amazing fries.

Samosas & Mango Chutney

Samosas and mango chutney is another perfect pairing on our list. These delicious, spicy Indian appetisers loaded with potatoes and spices are perfectly served with the zingy sweet and savory mango chutney. It’s light, super tasty and will definitely have you coming back for more. The Samosa from Indian Ocean in Clonmel comes with a choice of chutney dips, you’re welcome.
