West Waterford Food Festival
Dungarvan, Waterford (15th – 17th April)
Following the success of last year’s festival which celebrated Generations in Irish Food, the theme this year will shine a spotlight on the up-and-coming faces in Irish food and also the trends that are set to dominate the culinary world for the next year.
For three days the beautiful coastal town of Dungarvan and its surrounding countryside will welcome some of Ireland’s finest chefs, producers, stall-holders and all round lovers of fine food as well. Focusing on fresh new talent and innovators, the West Waterford Festival of Food showcases some of the best producers, chefs, restaurants and food businesses in Ireland.

All Ireland Chowder Cook-Off
Kinsale Cork ( 23rd to 24th)
The 6th annual All-Ireland Chowder Cook-Off 2016 will take place in Kinsale, Co Cork on Sunday 24th April. This hugely popular event is the highlight of a two-day food festival running from 23-24 April, hosted by the town’s Good Food Circle, an association of local restaurants.
Seafood chowder is now one of the most popular items on the menu of most Irish pubs and restaurants, and every year Kinsale, an attractive port on the south coast, known as Ireland’s “gourmet capital”, and the starting point of the Wild Atlantic Way, holds a competition to find the “All-Ireland Chowder Champion”.
This year’s event will take place at Acton’s Hotel on Sunday 24th April from 2 to 4pm. The All-Ireland Chowder Cook-Off will feature professional chefs from over 30 restaurants from all over Ireland, and the winner will visit Newport, Rhode Island, Kinsale’s transatlantic twin town, as a guest chef.

Connemara Mussel Festival
Renvyle, Galway (29th – 1st May)
Originally established to promote the excellence of the mussels of Killary Harbour, the festival has grown to become a celebration of local people, food, culture and heritage, and is recognised as the premier food event for Connemara attracting visitors from near and far. One of the first festivals each year on the Wild Atlantic Way, it showcases the very best Connemara has to offer. A true Feast for the Senses: taste and smell beautifully cooked local produce; see unparalleled views of the Connemara land and seascape; hear sounds of music, dancing, talks and theatre; feel the ambience; and above all enjoy the experience

A lively festival on The Loop Head Peninsula, County Clare, the Carrigaholt Oyster and Trad Festival joins two Irish loves, Great Music and Great Food. A celebration of Irish Gigas Oysters that are grown locally , the festival offers to serve you up your fill of complimentary oysters and traditional music over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
Seafood events will be happening throughout the weekend but the highlight of the weekend for food lovers will be the open air food market on Sunday. While there, try your luck at the Oyster opening and see if you could be the Carrigaholt Oyster shucking Champion.
